My first job in advertising was at the age of 9, singing the Apple Jacks jingle for a national commercial. "A is for apple, J is for jacks, cinnamon toasty Apple Jacks. Good with breakfast, that's a fact. A & J for Apple Jacks." How the hell do I still remember that?
A few years later, I began a career on the other side of the microphone as a copywriter then creative director at Ogilvy & Mather, Cramer-Krasselt, back to Ogilvy, and now as a freelancer. I've produced advertising for a wide range of brands, including Dove, Sears, Kimberly-Clark, NutraSweet and Equal, Hyatt, American National Bank, LaSalle Bank, Related (luxury real estate) and Western Publishing. I assembled and managed a team of freelancers for 10 years to create cross-media campaigns for most of the Darden restaurants (The Capital Grille, Eddie V's, Seasons 52, Bahama Breeze, and Cheddar's). I've also worked on strategic brand positioning for Wrigley, Coors, SC Johnson, Ocean Spray, and others.
My work has been recognized by leading industry publications and has won many awards; among them a Cannes Lion (for Dove), several Effies (including a Grand Effie for Dove), Kellys, One Show, Communication Arts, Archive, and Ad Age's "#1 Ad Campaign of the 21st Century" for Dove.
Whatever needs to be written I can write. And I can still carry a tune.
